I observed that in styles like hard rock, metal, trash – flageolets are used often as some kind of guitar effect. It sounds very strange and cool at the same time! Distortion will make your flageolets scream in a crazy manner – and that’s what you want, isn’t it?
Closer to the subject. You will have to tune your guitar two tones lower – this will give your guitar an angry sound. The level of your distortion gain should be set to 80% – but it depends from the pedal you are using. I was using Boss DS-1 distortion pedal and I also added some gain from my Peavey amp.
- First string = C
- Second string = G
- Third string = E bemol
- Fourth string = B bemol
- Fifth string = F
- Sixth string = C
A little secret about the riff, but very very important. The flageolet on the sixth string is not exactly at the third fret – it’s between the second and the third - and it sounds different, completely another note.
